- Cushing's Syndrome
- SYMPTOMS usually include weakness, wasting of muscle, bruising easily, round
- face, high blood pressure, kidney stones, easy fractures from bone thinning
- menstrual irregularities and psychiatric disturbances.
- CAUSES. The pituitary gland that controls adrenal activity and is located
- at the base of the brain, causes an abnormal increase in adrenal secretions.
- May also be from a benign tumor or excessive use of corticosteroid hormones.
- TREATMENT. Daily use of adrenal hormones. Surgery may be required.
